Although the Hunger Games movie has a great casts, from Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdean to Woody Harrelson playing Haymitch, there are many moments where it falls short of the novel. It quickly jumps right into the reaping and lacks the explanation and character development of Katniss, Gale, Prim and Katniss's mother. Even district 12 is left behind without having any real understanding of wher she came from. The love story also falls short in comparison, in the novel Katniss is clearly struggling with being in-love with Peeta and Gale and thus her choosing Peeta is a much stronger event. Over all if we just look at the film, the acting was good, the fights where very tame, and the ending was a little abrupt, but over all entertaining and leaves you wanting more. The costumes where fantastic and food was beautiful, but the depth of the characters are lost on those that are not already familiar with them through the novels.
